Vincenzo Solimene, whose family has been working in ceramics business for over a century, founded Ceramica Artistica Solimene in 1946 in the small town of Vietri Sul Mare on the Amalfi coast in Campagna region. Their ceramics are worked and painted entirely by hand, making each piece truly unique.
While Campagna Porco is a current pattern that is still in production, both tray and butter dish appear to be older shapes that are not currently manufactured or offered for sale, making the set a rare find. The pattern was in production since at least early 1980s; some of the discontinued shapes can be found in company’s historic catalog.
The tray measures 7.3″ long, x6″ deep, and 1.2″ tall; the butter dish measures 8.5″ long with handles, 5.2″ deep, and 3.5″ tall with the lid on. Both pieces are missing importer stickers; the butter dish is signed on the bottom by the artisan. The set is in excellent vintage condition.
