A handsome set of 6 early 20th century French Directoire style painted dining side chairs, circa 1920s, having hand caned backs, upholstered seats with nailhead trim, and typical neoclassical carvings. Featuring overscrolled square tapering backs decorated with a carved lozenge on the crest rail and apron, these antique French dining chairs are supported on turned tapering front legs, headed with paterae and rear saber legs. Original patina to frames. These comfortable dining chairs are very sturdy and suitable for everyday use. Original cane with no tears in excellent condition. Upholstery is serviceable but easily replaced in your coordinating fabric.
