This beautiful period writing table was constructed in France circa 1790 to 1800 of rich imported mahogany and the woods have been carefully selected to create an overall pattern of flaming grain around the apron of the table. The top is covered in a very beautiful old red gilt-tooled leather top as are the two slides which can extend out from either side of the table. The large single drawer retains its original lock and is keyed and works. The table has its original finish and we have chosen to not have it French polished as it is in remarkably good condition but we have since its photography sent it out to be professionally waxed and polished out to maximize its fine old surface. While a writing table it is of a scale and presence that it can be used as a sofa table or console in the right location and of course, can also free stand in a room since it is finished on all sides. The table has small brass caps to the legs and small brass pulls to the slides which we have not polished but if a client wants we will do this at no charge when requested. the height of the space between the apron and the floor is 24.25
