This pair of large and heavy antique handles are unsigned, but presumed to have originated from the Netherlands and date to approximately 1650 and done in the period Dutch Empire style. The handles are done in solid brass and have heavy rounded handles with ornately cast and pierced back plates with stylized floral decoration. The pair comes with its original wooden back plates. These handles may have originally come from a very large chest of drawers, a gate, a fireplace or a large trunk, but can be adapted for use in various architectural applications.
