A late 18th century Directoire mahogany architect’s table also called as table Tronchin. A mechanical table with a double-hinged ratcheted top and a gilt-tooled green leather lined writing surface, veneered in polished mahogany. A horizontal molding, on which reading, writing, and drawing materials may be propped, is attached on the writing surface and can be removed if desired. Below a long frieze drawer displaying the beauty of the mahogany.
On the bottom of the table there are stamps with a symbol appearing in the coat of arms of the Anjou family. There are also the initials ,,S A”, which may indicate an ebenist.
Condition:
This piece of furniture is in a very good condition. The table has been restored and the surface is finished with hand polished shellack.
