An exceptional and most decorative French early 19th century Directoire st. Mahogany and ormolu jardiniere planter circa 1805. The planter is raised by an elegant bottom tier with fine concave front and back and lovely rounded sides. Two impressive circular columns lead upwards each displaying mottled ormolu plinths and beautiful foliate capitals. The oblong top displays two charming richly chased wrap around laurel bands with a charming central floral reserve framing the warm mahogany background. Above is the original removable fitted insert framed within an elegant and most decorative pierced wrap around ormolu gallery.
