A Dutch Colonial period Indonesian wooden plantation lounge chair from the early 20th century with leather upholstery and nailhead trim. Created in Indonesia during the first half of the 20th century, this Dutch Colonial plantation chair features a slanted back topped with a pyramidal crest with flat upper rail. The chair was upholstered in brown leather showing great aging, secured with a brass nailhead trim. Designed to provide a relaxing experience to the sitter, the chair features a nicely curving body connected to two large arms with extending sections. The chair is raised on four legs, the front ones being turned with rectangular block joints on the knees, while the back ones show a saber shape. Plantation chairs combine form and function beautifully. Their extended arms allowed the colonials to relax with their feet up. The sloping continuous back and flat planks that extend beyond the arms are the typical traits of the plantation chair. Placed indoors or outdoors (under a covered patio), this Dutch Colonial Indonesian plantation lounge chair form the first half of the 20th century will bring a touch of relaxation to any home décor!
