Basse Cour is a rare, discontinued pattern based on La Basse Cour from Les Dessins Signature Collections by Pierre Frey, famous French home textiles and interior decor luxury goods manufacturer. Founded in 1935, Maison Pierre Frey now offers wallpapers and wall coverings, rugs, and furniture and decor items alongside the interior decor fabrics. Basse Cour is done in French Country style; the cups are decorated with thick mustard colored border with light yellow leaf garland overlay that adds texture and visual interest to the border, and a thin blue band of flowers with leaves, while the saucers have an additional decor of hens and roosters in the center.
The pieces are signed on the bottom with green underglaze manufacturer mark, “Porcelaine de Limoges France”, and grey decorator overglaze mark, “Pierre Frey Paris “Basse Cour” Made in France Lavage Machine Porcelaine de Limoges”. It is old new stock, and most pieces still have their stickers attached. The set is in excellent vintage condition.
