Antique French Directoire Mahogany Petite Cabinet with Carrara Marble Top is an unusual find due to its amazing quality executed on such a diminutive scale! Perfect for cozy niches, tight spots, passageways and other “traffic challenged” areas, it was designed to be less than a foot in depth to hug the wall. Crafted from sumptuous imported mahogany, it features the tailored architecture inherent in the style, with embellishments designed to maximize appreciation for the sheer natural beauty of the wood. Starting with the beveled Carrara marble top, the casework supports the top thanks to solid cornerposts, the front ones of which are rounded and fluted. Tailored recessed panels appear on each side, and four tapered and fluted legs with brass tips provide support. The primary style statement lies in the cabinet doors, defined by two panels each, with the panels outlined in brass molding trim. A pair of cast brass key guards in the neoclassical manner provide a focal point, and the doors open to reveal three surfaces within, including two adjustable shelves.
