Recalling the grandeur of 17th century Holland, the two-tier Rembrandt 372 chandelier exudes majestic elegance with twelve solid brass arms extending from its hand-crafted frame. At 85cm high and 74cm wide, this imposing yet graceful fixture epitomizes the Dutch Golden Age aesthetic. Intricate curling metalwork borders each tier, exemplifying the masterful artistry of historic metal craft. Though inspired by a centuries-old piece, this striking chandelier is wired along the arms for modern illumination. With its rich, decadent glow and superlative construction, the Rembrandt 372 immerses spaces in old world charm.
Original historical moulds from the era are utilised to create the brass components. Additionally, casting is still done the old-fashioned way in a greasy type of sand called Brussels’ soil. After the crown has been varnished, skilled artisans assemble the components. Electric wires run subtly along the arms, as they are made out of solid brass. The arms and curls are soldered together. While the crowns are being put together, the electrical wiring and lighting components are covertly placed.
Brink & van Keulen, a family-owned business founded in 1946, upholds the art of casting by producing the highest calibre brass chandeliers. Chandeliers by Brink and van Keulen can be found in a number of prestigious churches and monumental buildings in the Netherlands and other parts of the world. Through the transmission of knowledge through many generations, Brink & van Keulen has substantially aided in the preservation of the Dutch yellow casting craft. The business is the sole manufacturer of chandeliers using original casting moulds from the 17th century in all of Europe.
