The single-tier Vermeer 110 chandelier, a fine example of 17th-century Dutch lighting design, commands attention with its 74 cm wide solid brass frame and eight gently extending arms. With curling metalwork accents encircling the body, this magnificent antique fixture maintains a subtle beauty despite being approximately 60 cm high. This timeless sculpture evokes memories of Holland’s Golden Age, when vast halls and public areas were illuminated by candle-lit chandeliers. The Vermeer 110 pays respect to the master brasswork of its time while being electrified for contemporary use.

Original historical moulds from the era are utilised to create the brass components. Additionally, casting is still done the old-fashioned way in a greasy type of sand called Brussels’ soil. After the crown has been varnished, skilled artisans assemble the components. Electric crowns have bent hollow brass tubes for the arms. The arms and curls are soldered together. While the crowns are being put together, the electrical wiring and lighting components are covertly inserted.
