We are selling this great Chinese Mirror Black vase that has been mounted as a lamp. This vase has great form and rich dark black glaze that diffuses to brown around the rim. The vase is not marked on the base and the bronze is mounted to the porcelain, it looks as if it could be an 17th or 18th century example. The

Condition: Good condition. Vase is drilled. Light works but cords should probably be replaced due to potential fire hazard.

Arvid Böhlmarks lampfabrik ab as the written full name, was founded in 1872 in stockholm, sweden by arvid böhlmark. Böhlmarks became one of the most exclusive designer high end manufacturers of lamps in sweden in the 20th c. The production was in the beginning kerosene lamps and kerosene stoves as the first producer in sweden and in the early 1900´s böhlmarks started to become well known as the high end producer of electrical lamps of all sorts. In between 1920- late 1940´s they also produced chrome steel furniture in the present funcionalistic / bauhaus style. Bo notini, harald notini, gunnar asplund, alice nordin, alf wallander and jerk werkmäster was the top designers working for böhlmarks at that period of time. Böhlmarks also acquired pukebergs glassfactory in 1894, where all the beautiful glass shades came from. Pukeberg was and became one of the biggest producers of glass for böhlmarks and several other high end lamps, in Sweden.

Original and very special pair of table lamps; they are each formed by three lead crystals of lamellar shape cut, ground and polished with absolute perfection; the crystals have then been arranged on each structure in a balanced and dynamic way, so as to filter and diffuse the light of the single bulb, in a wise and rational way; the two bases are made of turned and polished brass; two prestigious and unique objects. They are the work of the famous Italian designer Gaetano Sciolari; designed and manufactured between 1970 and 1975 in one of his workshops in Milan. Angelo Gaetano Sciolari is a famous and prolific Italian designer and entrepreneur who contributed greatly to the success of Italian design in the world particularly in the United States. Gaetano Sciolari was born in 1927 in Italy. After graduating in architecture, the young man returned to his first passion: cinema. However, after the death of his father in 1949, Sciolari had to manage the family business that had been producing lamps since 1892. In just a few years, the designer turned the firm into an international enterprise! Manufacturer Sciolari became the first seller of Italian lights in the United States. People of America featured Sciolari’s products on the famous Dall TV Show. The products conceived, designed, and made by Sciolari have been an inspiration and model for artisans and important Italian lighting companies; his works range from the 1950s to the 1980s, but he is particularly famous for his creations from the 1960s and 1970s. The designer died in 1994. Our 1970s lamps reflect the style of the era and the Sciolari character, with clean lines, and geometric shapes, they are notable for their modernist aesthetic and their use of fine materials such as crystal and brass. The lamps are in good condition. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European; voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use.
