This is a very attractive antique French Directoire flame mahogany and brass mounted demi-lune ganes table, circa 1820 in date.

THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THAT THIS CARD TABLE IS MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION.

The folding top opening to reveal a baize lined playing surface, the central rear leg extending with a concealed drawer to support the open top, and raised on turned tapering legs terminating in brass spool feet.

There is no mistaking its unique quality and design, which is certain to make it a talking point in your home. As such, this card table is sure to take pride of place in your lounge or reception.

Description:
Piece of furniture standing on round legs with brass surrounds.

In the frame, from both sides, there are one long drawer and one false drawer, i.e. a non-opening panel that serves the symmetry of the furniture. In the middle between the drawers, the frame has a lower height, thus providing a comfortable legroom when sitting.
The loose top is covered with green fabric on one side as a base for card and dice games. The other side is veneered in mahogany. The surrounding edge here has a wide recess in the center, so the piece of furniture can also be used as a desk.

Below the top is the playing field, consisting of tapered inlays, some green in color, some natural, on a base of black wood. To the left and right are storage areas for pieces removed from play.

An original set, consisting of 30 game pieces, is included in the price.

Condition:
Restored and authentic condition. A small tear in the outer area of the green fabric has been neatly stitched. The spot is clearly visible in one of the pictures.

This is a spectacular Maison Jansen Attributed games table with bronze mounts and brass details and a superb gold tooled embossed leather top. The table is strongly attributed to Maison Jansen of Paris and is in good condition with minor signs of age and use most notably on the leather surface which will show normal age-appropriate impressions to the top. The finish is original and very good for its age. Dimensions: 30.5 inches high x 35.75 inches wide x 35.75 inches deep. Dates to the 1950s era.
