*Raymond Sobota was an American furniture designer who was born in 1923 in Hickory, North Carolina. He is best known for his work at Century Furniture Company, where he was the head of design from 1952 to 1986. Sobota’s designs were known for their clean lines, simple elegance, and use of natural materials. He was a pioneer in the use of plywood in furniture design, and his work helped to popularize the style in the 1950s and 1960s. Sobota’s most famous designs include the Century Brasilia collection, which was inspired by the Brazilian modernist movement. The collection was a commercial success and helped to establish Century Furniture as a leader in modern furniture design. Sobota retired from Century Furniture in 1986, but he continued to design furniture until his death in 2000. His work is still considered to be some of the most influential furniture design of the 20th century.

Phenomenal Antique Burmese orchestral Hsian wain drum circle table. Comprised of a rectangular glass top, eight hand carved and bejeweled panels, & 27 original pickets, and 15 traditional Myanmar drums with various sizes. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, some mirror pieces are missing but impossible to tell unless you study up close, otherwise there are no other outstanding flaws to alert you to; but it is at least 100 years old so will have signs of age. The pickets or points pictured were removed to accommodate the glass tabletop; but can be reattached. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 19th or Early 20th Century.

Everyone dances to the beat of their own drum… and you are about to BUST A SERIOUS MOVE when we tell you about this incredible drum table!!! It is unique and definitely one of a kind! This fabulous and ornate antique Burmese Mandalay period Orchestra Hsian Wain circle drum/percussion stand table base is composed of eight panels of intricately hand carved wood and inlaid with mirrors and glass. A rectangular-shaped glass surface has been added to this assembled circle for a highly unique and visually striking dining (seven panels were used) or center (eight panels used) table. However, if you are a purist, we do have the pickets, which the drums hang from, that were removed to make the surface flat to hold the glass top, but it could easily be reassembled. We can provide that service if you wish, but we will include them with your purchase in case you change your mind later. It is believed to be from Burma aka Myanmar, late 19th, or early 20th Century and originally used as a type of orchestral drum circle. Fun fact… The performing musician would crawl through the key-hole doorway and either sit or stand to play the melodic drums which hung around them. And we are including 15 traditional Myanmar drums in various sizes for you to do just that or use as you wish as décor surrounding the table. How wonderful!! The gorgeous keyhole detail is not only a marvelous detail, if you have toddlers, four legged friends, or ornery grandchildren, it could double as a fabulous hiding space! LOL, just kidding, and no worries with the clear glass top!! Another way to enjoy the striking beauty of these panels would be to hang them on the wall individually OR for a breathtaking ensemble, hang all seven! This hand carved antique Burmese percussion circle is simply spectacular and would be a magnificent conversation starter and an eye-catching centerpiece of any room! Are you still sitting there? A 1940s mahogany dining table ornamented with top-notch satinwood banding. The table stands on three beautifully inlaid Sheraton-style pedestals that end in brass animal claw monopodium feet.

In order to accommodate more people, this piece also comes with an 18-inch leaf.

Although perfect for a dining room, thanks to its length and included leaf, this piece can easily act as a conference table, adding to its versatility and overall appeal.

Please note that, being made in the 1940s, this is a used item. We are selling it in a refinished (not perfect), structurally sound form.
