A very good quality 18th century Dutch marquetry inlaid bureau bookcase. Having a double dome top cornice, two panel doors, a fall front and bombe shaped base. The wonderfully bold and fine quality inlaid marquetry detail of flowers, birds and vases. The bookcase doors open to reveal pigeon holes, drawers and cupboards. The fall opening to reveal shaped drawers, a slide over a well, all with inlay. The original brass handles, oak lined drawers and raised on bracket feet.

Antique Dutch Floral Marquetry Inlaid Bombé Bureau, 18th Century

A 19th century Dutch marquetry inlaid bombé bureau profusely decorated all-over with marquetry depictions of flowers, urns and birds. With a rectangular flap opening to reveal a striking floral marquetry stepped fitted interior with a well, two small drawers support the flap and a further two short and two long drawers below provide plenty of useful storage. Ornate pierced brass handles and escutcheons decorated with birds and with a bombé front and sides and shaped apron, the whole piece stands on splayed feet.

Good condition for age has had some restorations and the usual repairs to the legs and shrinkage lines to the veneers (a result of the curved surfaces).

19th Century Mahogany Inlaid Writing Desk, 1890s

Vintage Design

A superb quality 19th Century mahogany inlaid writing desk, the super structure comprising of three mahogany lined drawers either side with the original turned brass knob handles and ornate floral inlay on the drawer fronts, a stationary compartment at the centre with a hinged lift up lid revealing various fitted compartments, the top of the super structure decorated with a pierced brass gallery. The desk itself having a green leather writing surface decorated with blind and gilt tooling, the mahogany border inlaid and having a thumb moulded edge, a combination of five drawers below, all mahogany lined and having the original turned brass knob handles with the same decorative ornate floral inlay, shaped apron below and supported on inlaid square tapering legs terminating on brass cap and castors. The sides of the desk are also profusely inlaid and as well as having the ornate floral inlay but also an urn at the centre, this is also the same as the front of the stationary compartment. A truly lovely piece of furniture and in excellent condition. Circa 1890.

This unique Aldo Tura desk was produced in Italy in the late 1960s, and really feels imposing and glamorous. The varnished goatskin parchment, in rich shades of brown and dark brown, makes this desk typical of designer Aldo Tura signature. It features a large top with four drawers with beautiful brass handles, resting on a strong and beautiful brass and chrome structure. Following the glamorous Italian Mid-century look of other classic Aldo Tura pieces, with the combination of brass, chrome and lacquered goatskin all around, this desk is a highly decorative piece, and exudes 1960s and 1970s lavish Italian flair. It has been fully restored and relacquered, and is found in an amazing condition. A very rare find, and a true timeless Mid-Century Italian beauty.
