A Dutch Colonial period Indonesian wooden plantation lounge chair from the early 20th century with leather upholstery and nailhead trim. Created in Indonesia during the first half of the 20th century, this Dutch Colonial plantation chair features a slanted back topped with a pyramidal crest with flat upper rail. The chair was upholstered in brown leather showing great aging, secured with a brass nailhead trim. Designed to provide a relaxing experience to the sitter, the chair features a nicely curving body connected to two large arms with extending sections. The chair is raised on four legs, the front ones being turned with rectangular block joints on the knees, while the back ones show a saber shape. Plantation chairs combine form and function beautifully. Their extended arms allowed the colonials to relax with their feet up. The sloping continuous back and flat planks that extend beyond the arms are the typical traits of the plantation chair. Set of four stackable chairs, model DSC, with seat and back in solid beech wood painted blue with round aluminium legs. Produced by Anonima Castelli and designed by Giancarlo Piretti in 1965. The trademark ‘DSC Castelli Italy’ is stamped on the frame. Excellent condition, fully restored. Measurements in cm 54x54x76h An iconic modern antique design, these chairs are very famous both for the artist who designed them, Giancarlo Piretti, and the renowned Italian company that produced them, Anonima Castelli, and for their use, often associated with meeting rooms, auditoriums and large classrooms. This is because they can be made into one long row of chairs and because of their materials steel and solid beech wood, which are truly indestructible. Today these chairs are also widely used in homes, they look great in a dining room.

Chaise longue designed by the Belgium designer Linde Hermans in 1999 for Inconcept Belgium.
This one is from the first limited production run of only 12 pieces. Extremely rare and a true museum piece.
It is part of the permanent collection of the Design Museum in Gent (B) and one of the largest private collections of chairs in the world by Thierry Barbier-Mueller (CH).
Linde Hermans is a very talented production designer who won the prestigious Henry van der Velde award in 2008.
The chaise longue is made of 3 parts of stainless steel, which makes it dismantlable for shipping or replacement of the leather, and it has a thick black saddle leather seating.
It is sober and graceful in its shape. The combination of materials and shapes suggests flexibility and movement.
Recently the chaise longue is relaunched in limited edition and ‘made to order’, but the one we offer here is the early original one.
The chaise longue is in very good original condition. Just some normal traces of use.
