LATE 18TH CENTURY GEORGIAN WALNUT BUREAU CIRCA 1790. FINE QUALITY GEORGE III PERIOD WALNUT BUREAU, FITTED WITH A FALL AND 2 OVER 3 DRAWERS. FALL DROPS DOWN ONTO PULL OUT SLIDES TO PROVIDE THE WRITING SURFACE, WITH AN INSET LEATHER PANEL WITH GOLD TOOLING. FULLY FITTED INTERIOR OF DRAWERS AND SLIDES AND PLENTY OF SECRET DRAWERS AROUND THE CENTRAL INLAID TABERNACLE. BELOW ARE 5 OAK LINED DRAWERS, WITH COCK BEADED EDGING, COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL ORNATE BRASS HANDLES. RAISED ON 4 OGEE BRACKET FEET. HEAVY PIECE. EXPECTED MINOR SURFACE MARKS, AGE SPLITS TO SIDES DUE TO NATURAL SHRINKAGE. EXPECTED RIPPLING TO TOP SURFACE. GOOD COLOUR AND PATINA AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.

Danish Mahogany Secretary, 1960s

Vintage Design

The secretary was made in the 1960s, Danish production.

The structure is covered with mahogany veneer. The legs are made of solid wood. The surface has been refreshed. The interior of the furniture was filled with practical drawers and a shelf without the possibility of height adjustment. Additionally there is a convenient storage space under the raised top. The secretary is one of the most multifunctional pieces of furniture that have been designed in the history of Danish design.

Condition: Surface of the secretary after conservation. Minor scratches and losses are visible and have been filled. Larger traces of use are always presented in the photos. The product is ready to use.

*For safety reasons, the furniture may have its legs unscrewed for transport. Assembly should not be a problem. However, if in doubt please contact us, we will send you an instructional video.

Louis XVI Secretaire, Waxed Polished Mahogany Veneer, 18th Century

A delightful Louis XVI secretary, built in oak and polished mahogany veneer, it is topped with a grey Saint-Anne des Pyrénées marble.
It is equipped with a high drawer, offering a beautiful storage space, just below, it reveals a flap, discovering a space of a sobriety characteristic of Louis XVI Secretaries.

It consists of a large niche under which are seven drawers, six of which are of identical capacity, all in mahogany veneer.
The flap is covered with original Camel coloured leather.
At the bottom, it is equipped with two doors, housing a new storage compartment.

These three front doors are equipped with cut brass lock entries.
This numerical inferiority is compensated by the presence of two pearled brass pull handles on the top drawer.
The fluted uprights of this piece of furniture end in four tapered legs with gilded alloy shoes for the front legs.
The back is a magnificent work of wood veneer entirely of the period.

In the 18th century, the ingenuity and talent of cabinetmakers were used to make secretaries with shapes as diverse as their names and with a great wealth of ornamentation, secretaries with a wide range of colours, and secretaries with a wide range of colours.

Large French Directoire Period Traveling Secretary Desk

This French Directoire traveling secretary is made of walnut. Its large size is unusual and would make an impressive statement in a study. The top section of the secretary is period, dating from the end of the 18th century, while the base was created sometime later in the early 19th century. The interior has some of the original drawers, one of which locks with a key, and the leather-faced cartonniers are recent. There are forged iron rings on each side for carrying the top, however, the ring on the right side is broken.

19th Century French Directory Cherry Wood Secretary Desk

A French Directory era secretary desk, from the early 19th century, made of beautiful cherry wood, in a light tone with bronze handles and bronze keyholes as well. In their lower part they have a long drawer, and two smaller upper ones. When opening the lid, with a mechanism of lateral iron bars, we can see four other smaller drawers, two on each side, separated by a small walnut arch.
It is a very well preserved piece of furniture, with practically no major faults and it is very well preserved for its age.
