A superb 19th-Century Dutch fruitwood hand coopered fireside peat bucket / ‘teestoof’ or kettle warmer / jardiniere with the original brass liner. This fine bucket exhibits excellent workmanship with a hand turned ribbed shape in a lovely patina with a brass swing handle. The Dutch ‘teestoof’ bucket was originally used as a kettle warmer and the brass liner, which only goes about 1/2 the depth of the bucket, was filled with hot coals to keep a brass tea pot warm. Today, it would be wonderful used as a waste basket, kindling bucket, planter or accent piece displayed with decorative items.
