Description:
Set of six French directoire chairs in mahogany.
The square legs are curved flared, taper discreetly downward and merge into the backrest at the back.
The back board is carved in low relief. Depicted are, as it was common in provincial France of the early 19th century, palmettes and hanging work in the typical manner of the Directoire era.
The upper finial is the applied semi-circular bar, also typical, following the shape of the backboard.
Condition:
Restored and polished with shellac. Newly upholstered, newly covered. The legs are extended by about 3 cm at the bottom to get to a “modern” seat height.
Price: 700,- € per chair. To be sold only as a complete set: 4200,- €.
