Pair of early 19th century mahogany side chairs in the manner of Bellange Frères. Raised on turned tapering front legs and sabre rear legs, carved with pierced splades in the shape of a pilaster and adorned with carved paterae, upholstered with dark green leather finished with brass nail heads. The pair is almost identical to a set of mahogany chairs stamped Bellange in the Musee national du chateau de Fontainebleau, the same toupie feet and sabre legs, the splades here adorned by a pierced diamant, while at Fontainebleau by a pierced vase.
A restained design in high quality workmanship and solid mahogany.
