Vintage Design
This iconic lounge chair, model Oyster or F157, was designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1958. This ‘bucket’ chair shows the distinction between the sitting and carrying area, that is so characteristic of the 1950’s. The minimalistic nickle-plated metal base carries the upholstered wooden shell, that seems to float above the floor. A great design that became, and is still, a big succes. This particular piece is an early model from the 1960’s that we acquired from the first owner. It has been completely reupholstered with new foam and a high quality 100% pure new wool woven blue fabric, model Tweed, from BUTE fabrics of the Isle of Bute in Scotland. This chair is in a very good condition with small signs of age and use on the base.
