Vintage Design
Low coffee or side table produced by Herman Miller in 1960-70. table-top in natural slate, on a chrome finish ‘Contract Base’.
The contract base was released in 1957 as part of the Alu Group range of furniture. The Eames Contract Base Coffee Tables and Dining Tables used a common base type with a large variation of table tops.
Most of the tops are not very attractive, being finished in laminate plastic. But during the 1960s, natural stones were added to the range, onyx, marble and slate as this example.
The table is in great state, the chrome finish is just damaged on a small area of one of the legs of the base – see photograph.
